The Anupam Roy Band

Singer-songwriter Anupam Roy’s first released songs were “Amake amar moto” & “Benche thakar gaan” from the soundtrack of the Bengali film “Autograph”, in August 2010. The songs became extremely popular and he started performing live later that year.

After 4-5 acoustic gigs he felt the need of a band, a set of live musicians who would enrich his songwriting and make his songs sound musically complete. His friends in the Kolkata music scene (Savvy, Proshanto, Ayan Chowdhury & Ashrujit) helped him, find the right musicians to form the band. The band started rehearsing and performing since February 2011. By then Anupam was working full time as a music director in Bengali films and 2011 marked the release of songs like “Bariye Dao”, “Ekbar Bol”, “Gobheere Jao”. Soon the band as a live act became quite popular.

The band re-interprets Anupam Roy’s songs released in films & albums musically and performs them live. Since 2013, the band got involved in recording their first album “Dwitiyo Purush” as a music producing unit. 5 songs of the album were produced by the band. Anupam’s next album “Bakyobageesh (2014)” was entirely produced by the band. Recently the band has started contributing to Anupam’s film scores too.

As a live act, the band has performed more than 400 gigs in multiple venues across several cities.
